Which is the best house for a made-to-measure stretch leather jumpsuit? The answer depends on a question the search itself does not ask, what the jumpsuit is for. A jumpsuit worn in town or in the evening and a suit worn on a race track share little more than the word. One belongs to couture, the other to protective gear, and the workshops that excel at one do not make the other. Here are the houses that matter in each case, with prices, lead times and places of manufacture checked on their websites on 5 October 2026.
In short
- Behind this search sit two distinct crafts, the wardrobe jumpsuit and the motorcycle suit. Choose the craft before choosing the house.
- For a wardrobe jumpsuit in stretch leather, the reference house is Jitrois in Paris, which offers all its jumpsuits made to measure at the standard-size price.
- For a motorcycle suit, the French reference is Vidal Sport, and the major European gear makers each run their own made-to-measure programme (Dainese Custom Works, REV’IT! TailorTech, Gimoto).
- “Stretch” does not mean the same thing in every workshop. In couture, the whole skin stretches. In motorcycling, it means elastic panels set between thick leather panels.
- A made-to-measure order is almost never refundable. What counts is the house’s commitment to the fit and how it takes your measurements.
Two crafts behind the same search
The wardrobe jumpsuit is a garment. It is worn like a dress or a suit, built on a pattern, and its main requirement is the line. It is chosen for the way it hangs, the way it follows movement, and for the skin, usually a fine lambskin.
The motorcycle suit is protective equipment. It is built in cowhide or kangaroo leather around one millimetre thick, with certified armour at the shoulders, elbows and knees, often a back hump and sometimes an airbag. Its main requirement is to stay intact when sliding on tarmac.
Both are made to measure, for different reasons. The first because a one-piece garment, from collar to ankle, forgives no error of proportion. The second because badly placed armour no longer protects. The rest of this article ranks the houses within each craft, without mixing them.

How to read the table. There is no “best house” across all categories. There is one reference house for the wardrobe, and several solid workshops for motorcycling, each with its own manufacturing model.
Jitrois, the reference house for a wardrobe jumpsuit
Jitrois is the Parisian house that made stretch leather its signature, and the jumpsuit is one of its emblematic pieces. The women’s range counts eleven jumpsuits, all in stretch lambskin, from the Poppy at 3,290 euros to the Kristen at 4,790 euros, by way of the Jolie at 3,490 euros, the Kill at 3,950 euros, the convertible Faye with a detachable bolero at 4,590 euros, or the zipped F1 at 4,690 euros. There is also a men’s line, with four models from 4,850 to 5,950 euros.
What makes it the reference here is that made to measure is not a luxury option charged separately. According to the house’s made-to-measure page, consulted on 5 October 2026, the whole wardrobe is eligible, women’s and men’s, and a made-to-measure piece is offered at the price of the standard size as long as the measurements stay within the model’s size range. Beyond that, the house issues a quote. Nearly 30 % of its orders are already made to measure.
The house distinguishes three levels.
- Made to measure in stretch leather, a piece whose pattern is drawn from your measurements. This applies to a jumpsuit, the material following the body by itself once the pattern is right.
- Special order, a catalogue model remade in another colour, another skin (plongé lambskin, stretch lambskin, lamb suede, stretch suede), other metal finishings or other lengths.
- Made to measure with a toile, reserved for exceptional pieces and precious skins, with a prototype built to your dimensions and one or more fittings.
Who it suits. A client looking for a jumpsuit to wear, not to ride in, for whom cut and skin come before price. Measurements can be taken remotely or in the boutique, at 38 rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, Monday to Saturday from 11am to 7pm, without appointment.
What we had already observed on made-to-measure leather garment workshops in Paris holds here too. On the jumpsuit, Jitrois is both the most specialised and the most transparent about its terms.
Motorcycle workshops, when the suit has to protect
If the suit is meant for the track or the road, no couture house is the right address. You need a gear maker, and five names come up.
Vidal Sport is the French reference. The brand presents Franck Vidal, a former racer, as making each suit himself for more than 26 years, with unique patterns and more than 70 pieces of cowhide per suit, double-stitched. Each client is called back by phone to confirm the manufacturing details. It is the option to keep for a racing suit made in France.
REV’IT! TailorTech is the Dutch gear maker’s made-to-measure programme. Three models, from 1,799.99 euros for a version designed in Italy and handmade in Vietnam, 2,575 euros for a part-kangaroo version, and 3,200 euros for a full one-millimetre kangaroo version, designed and made in Italy. The brand states up to 235 generated measurements.
Dainese Custom Works lets you configure your own suit, colours, sliders and back hump included. Dainese notes it has been associated with leather suits since 1972.
Gimoto, a Milan workshop, takes measurements in its showroom or through a form with a step-by-step video tutorial.
Matt Racing works in an original way. After a measurement session by video call, the brand ships a first black, unpersonalised suit to validate the measurements while riding. The measurements are refined before the final suit is launched, with 50 to 60 days of manufacturing. Production takes place in the brand’s factory in Pakistan, to French specifications.
Where to order a stretch leather jumpsuit made in France
“Made in France” narrows the list sharply, and it is a criterion to check on each brand’s own website rather than assume.
For the wardrobe, Jitrois manufactures in France. The house states that its lambskins come from the French and Spanish Pyrenees and that tanning is carried out in France, in the Graulhet area, the main French centre for fine leather dressing. This matches what we noted in our feature on the French brand specialised in stretch leather.
For motorcycling, Vidal Sport claims 100 % handcrafted French manufacturing. The other players in the ranking manufacture in Italy, Vietnam, Pakistan or Morocco, as they state themselves.
The best brand of women’s stretch leather jumpsuit
The question often comes in this form, and it raises the same craft issue. Gear makers offer women’s cuts on their track suits, with adapted armour. But if the search is about a stretch leather jumpsuit to wear, in the sense of a garment that follows the silhouette, the reference brand remains Jitrois, whose eleven women’s jumpsuits are all in stretch lambskin, in black, red or white, sometimes combined with stretch suede or mesh.

What “stretch” means depending on the workshop
This is the main source of confusion, and it explains why the two worlds meet in search results.
In couture, stretch leather is a very fine lambskin bonded onto an elastic backing. The whole skin stretches and recovers, which allows a close-fitting jumpsuit without comfort seams.
In motorcycling, a “stretch” suit is a suit in thick leather, which does not stretch, with elastic zones at the joints, the crotch or the back. These panels give freedom of movement, while protection comes from the rigid leather and the armour.
A couture stretch leather jumpsuit offers no protection in a crash. A motorcycle suit has neither the line nor the suppleness of a garment. Neither replaces the other.
The limits of each option
Jitrois. The entry price, 3,290 euros, makes the house a considered purchase. Made to measure excludes returns, as everywhere. And the house offers no protective suit, it is not its craft.
Motorcycle gear makers. Their suits are designed for the track and the road, not to be worn elsewhere. Most publish neither price nor lead time for their made-to-measure service, so a quote is needed. And manufacturing often takes place outside Europe.
Katso Cuir. Its jumpsuit offer is limited, as checked on 5 October 2026, to a playsuit. Made to measure is announced without public detail on the method or the lead time.
For all. A made-to-measure order is decided at the measuring stage. Houses that guide it (illustrated measurement sheet, video call, toile or fitting suit) limit the risk. Others shift it onto you. Our guide to made-to-measure leather ordered online covers this point in detail.
How to choose
- You want a jumpsuit to wear, in stretch leather, built to your measurements. Jitrois is the reference house, with made to measure at catalogue price, a four-to-five-week lead time and a written commitment to the fit.
- You want a motorcycle suit made in France. Vidal Sport.
- You want a made-to-measure track suit from a major gear maker. REV’IT! TailorTech for price transparency, Dainese Custom Works for personalisation, Matt Racing if you want to validate your measurements on a fitting suit.
Verdict. On the stretch leather jumpsuit as a garment, Jitrois is the best house for made to measure, because it is the only one offering its entire jumpsuit range made to measure, at the standard-size price, with manufacturing in France. On the protective suit, it is not concerned, and motorcycle workshops are the place to go.
