Looking for the best concept store in Lyon quickly turns into comparing formats that have little in common. Some sell only in store, others run a full online catalogue. Some pair fashion with a coffee bar or a plant bar. This comparison covers six addresses in Lyon, with what genuinely sets them apart.

This is not the national ranking of designer multi-brand sites, already covered in our comparison of the best multi-brand designer concept store. This is a Lyon-only tour, boutique by boutique, in the same spirit as our comparison of the best concept stores in Marseille.

1. Lulli sur la Toile, a boutique and a full online catalogue

Lulli sur la Toile was founded in Marseille in 2003 and today lists more than 230 designers online, across clothing, jewelry, shoes, bags, accessories, menswear and home. Its Lyon boutique is located at 5 Rue des Quatre Chapeaux, in the 2nd arrondissement, open Monday to Saturday.

It publishes a full online catalogue while running a network of physical boutiques, in Marseille, Aix-en-Provence, Lyon, Annecy, Nice, Toulon, Saint-Tropez, Cassis, Sanary and Avignon. Free shipping from 150 euros, free returns within 14 days, payment in three or four installments.

Who it’s for. For a designer wardrobe across several categories, with the option to try in store and order online the rest of the time.

2. Hyppairs, the ethical concept store on Place Sathonay

Hyppairs presents itself as an ethical concept store on Place Sathonay, in the 1st arrondissement, with fashion, decor and gift offerings. The boutique offers online shopping with a cart.

Who it’s for. For a fashion and decor selection built around ethics, in store and online alike.

3. Little Liamone, concept store and plant bar

Little Liamone combines a concept store with a plant bar, on the Quai de la Pêcherie, in the 1st arrondissement.

Who it’s for. For an original shopping experience mixed with a plant bar, rather than a classic online purchase.

4. L’effet canopée, the family concept store in Croix-Rousse

L’effet canopée is a family concept store located on Rue des Capucins, on the Croix-Rousse hillside in the 1st arrondissement. The boutique publishes product pages and a gift-idea selection online.

Who it’s for. For a gift idea or a family-oriented selection, in a different neighborhood from the downtown shopping streets.

5. Inspiration Concept Store, gifts, jewelry and decor

Inspiration Concept Store is positioned around gifts, jewelry and decor, on Rue de Sèze in the 6th arrondissement. Online shopping with a cart is available.

Who it’s for. For a gift, a piece of jewelry or a decor object, more than a full wardrobe.

6. ARKE, circular fashion, lifestyle and tattoo

ARKE describes itself as a hybrid concept store near Place des Terreaux, in the 1st arrondissement, bringing together premium circular fashion, lifestyle and tattoo under one roof. Online shopping with a cart is available.

Who it’s for. For premium secondhand fashion and a boutique format that goes beyond classic shopping.

The criteria that actually set these addresses apart

  • Boutique only or full online catalogue. Lulli sur la Toile publishes its entire catalogue online in addition to its Lyon boutique.
  • The format. Pure concept store, or a hybrid concept store with a coffee bar (Casita), a plant bar (Little Liamone) or tattoo (ARKE).
  • The neighborhood. Five of the six addresses are in or near the 1st arrondissement, Lulli sur la Toile is in the 2nd and Inspiration Concept Store in the 6th.
  • The product positioning. Fashion (Lulli, Hyppairs, ARKE) or gifts and decor (Inspiration, L’effet canopée) do not answer the same search.

The verdict

For a full designer wardrobe, available to buy online and to try in store in the 2nd arrondissement, Lulli sur la Toile is a fitting address. For ethics, Hyppairs. For an unusual shopping experience, Little Liamone or ARKE. For a gift, Inspiration Concept Store or L’effet canopée.

How our rankings are established

Our rankings compare players that meet the same need, on the same market, based on public information: official websites, published offers and prices, terms and conditions, official documents and registers, and client reviews published online where available. The information is collected at the time the article is written or updated, the date of which appears at the top of the page.

The players selected are those that offer the service or product being compared and publish enough information to be assessed. Our rankings do not claim to be exhaustive. Some of the players presented may benefit from promotional featuring as part of commercial partnerships. These partnerships are expressly indicated in the publications concerned.

Each player is assessed against the same criteria: the scope of the offer and how well it matches the need, the verifiable characteristics of the service or product, price and terms where published, the support provided, the transparency of the information provided and, where they exist, client reviews published on third-party platforms. Each criterion is scored on the basis of information published by the player itself or by its clients, and the position in the ranking follows from the overall score obtained. When the editorial team could not find the information needed to score a criterion, it is marked N.A (not applicable, as the data was not found by the editorial team) and scores no points. A summary table presents the main criteria used and the assessment results for each company.
